Scholarships

Many students finance part of their education with scholarships, which may be awarded for academic achievement, special skills, talent and/or based on the applicant’s calculated financial need. In addition to state and private scholarships, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has a variety of scholarships available to first-year, transfer, and continuing students.  See below for more information!  

State Scholarships

With the New Mexico Legislative Lottery and Opportunity Scholarships, there are options for New Mexicans to pursue college and career training without worrying about the cost of tuition and fees. For more information about these scholarships, please contact the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Financial Aid Office or visit the  website.

Carlsbad Community Foundation
(non-traditional scholarship)

The Carlsbad Community Foundation has a number of scholarships available. These non-traditional scholarships are being offered for individuals pursuing educational goals and are not limited to recent high school graduates. To be eligible to apply, applications must have a valid NM resident address. All information and online applications may be found through the Foundation’s website at: 

The Foundation’s non-traditional scholarship schedule is as follows:

  • Available scholarship listing (with minimum application requirements for each scholarship) posted on the website by June 1st.
  • Online applications are accepted until the end of June (actual date TBD each aid year).
  • Successful recipients and unsuccessful applicants notified by August 1st.

Please note the above schedule is subject to change without notice. Please verify all information on the foundation website on or before June 1. Transcripts or any other documents to be uploaded must be in PDF format. It is recommended that any such documents be available prior to beginning the application process.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Carlsbad Returning Adult Scholarship

The scholarship is for returning adults or continuing students who did not attend college immediately following high school graduation, out of high school minimum (2) years. Application deadline is August 15th.

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled full-time at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ
  • Degree-seeking with no prior degrees
  • US citizen, NM Resident who has resided in Eddy County at least 5 years
  • Returning adult who did not attend college immediately following high school graduation, minimum two (2) years.
  • Financial need to be taken into consideration, FAFSA must be completed prior to submission of application.

Complete the scholarship application form and attach:

  • A paragraph describing, in detail, your educational goals, future plans, and how you plan to use the funds.
  • Academic transcripts of college work

Carlsbad Heights Lions Club Scholarship

Students considered returning adults are those who did not attend college immediately following high school graduation, a minimum of two (2) years. The deadline to apply is August 15th.

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled at least half-time at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ
  • Degree-seeking with no prior degrees
  • US citizen, NM Resident who resides in Eddy County
  • Returning adult or continuing student who did not attend college immediately following high school graduation, out of high school minimum of two (2) years.
  • Financial need to be taken into consideration, FAFSA must be completed prior to submission of the application

Carlsbad Downtown Lions Club Scholarship

The scholarship is for continuing students who are attending Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ full-time (minimum 12 credit hours). Application deadline is August 15th.

  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Enrolled full-time (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Sophomore status at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (28 credit hours or more)
